Summary

The project is embedded in RIS-ID 10889 which has the overall aim to holistically study plankton communities on glaciers, in fjords and in and underneath the sea ice in Billefjorden. This project focuses on the seasonal abundance and composition of microzooplankton and ichthyoplankton under the influence of sea ice during winter and spring, and meltwater inflow during summer. In order to study the trophic interactions between microzooplankton and ichthyoplankton, prey selectivity of fish larvae on MZP will be studied through quantitative molecular gut content of fish larvae. Furthermore, the physiological fitness of fish larvae will be assessed through DNA/RNA analysis.
