Summary

We will measure the number concentration of atmospheric Ice Nuclei (IN) at Zeppelin Station for a period of 2 years. This work is a subproject of the FP7 EU Project BACCHUS, which will run several sampling sites from the Arctic to the Amazon. An automatic, remote controlled Electrostatic Aerosol Collector (EAC) will collect one aerosol sample per day on silicon substrates. These wil be analyzed by the isothermal static vapor diffusion chamber FRIDGE for the number of IN active in the deposition and condensation modes. Selected samples will be analyzed at TU Darmstadt by electron microscopy for the composition of IN.
