Summary

The Arctic Tern migrates from Arctic to Antarctic and covers a total distance of 70.000 km. Geolocation loggers make it possible to map the migration route but also study the phenology of migration in relation to climate change. While the Arctic has been warming most, the Antarctic belongs to a more stable climatic region sofar. How do temperature and pollution affect the arctic tern? In Kongsfjorden, we will ring and monitor arctic terns and hope torelate their breeding success to availability of prey and predation.
